Onda Logistic manages to attract 59,2 million euros in investments to build new industrial buildings

  • In four months, the City Council doubles the licenses for major work, from 37 to 75, in the entire logistic park
  • Ballester: “More and more companies trust Onda as an agile, modern, competitive and stable industrial destination "

In just four months, from November 2020 to today, the City Council of Onda has duplicated the major work licenses granted, from 37 to 75, to reform or build new industrial buildings in the 12 industrial estates of the city. This investment boom in Onda arrives after starting the action plan 'Onda Logistic ' that the municipal government has promoted to call in talent, attract investment and add new opportunities to the city. All these works add up, in what we have been in office, a total investment of 59.237.669 euros, a figure that multiplies by five all the investments registered during the last four years.

One of the most compelling reasons to invest in Onda are the tax advantages that have allowed these companies to save about one million euros by subsidizing the City Council on 50% of the Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works (ICIO) in industrial areas with more empty land, in addition to benefiting from other significant discounts in rates and taxes.

In this regard, the mayor of Onda, Carmina Ballester, explained that "international promotion, tax advantages and improvements in industrial estates have been so important to this economic boom and industrial boom in Onda, since initiatives such as Onda Logistic are not being carried out in any industrial area of Spain ”. The first councilor has also added that "more and more companies trust Onda as an agile, modern, competitive and stable industrial destination ”.

Joint work with the Cámara de Comercio

Considering the success of the initiative and the proper functioning of the platform ondalogistic.com, which in its first month of operation has already attracted the attention of 3.092 professionals from around the world, the municipal government has renewed the collaboration with the Castellón Chamber of Commerce to continue developing and improving this action plan in 2021. During the next year the international promotion that is now being carried out mainly in the United Kingdom, will be extended to France and the Spanish capitals of Madrid and Barcelona.

A million to improve polygons

On the other hand, the City Council has approved, unanimously of all political groups, the investment plan 2021 to improve the competitiveness and infrastructures of the 12 industrial estates of the city. The total budget amounts to 1,9 millones de euros, for which it has requested, also by consensus, the co-financing of the Generalitat Valenciana through the IVACE. This medium-term action plan has been based on an analysis of the current situation and has had the participation of the companies established in Onda.

The actions for which the subsidy will be requested from the Generalitat are: civil works that allow the implementation of fiber optics; traffic control through CCTV connected to the Local Police; improvement of public lighting by installing 1.079 LED luminaires, which represents an economic saving of 93.000 euros; fire fighting services, with the installation of more than 100 hydrants; improvement and expansion of green areas; signaling and/or identification of streets; horizontal and/or vertical traffic signaling to improve the safety of users of industrial zones; and improvement in the supply of drinking water.
